    Valentino: the Last Emperor (2009)

" This remarkably intimate portrait, made with less formality than you might expect, gives a real insight into Valentino as a living, working phenomenon at the end of his career"

    Valkyrie (2008)

" I'm baffled by the casting of a bunch of British actors to play German characters %u2026 it's not just a matter of an accent; actors bring their cultural personas with them %u2013 and that's where the trouble lies; they don't fit here"

    Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)

" Occasionally endearingly audacious, Woody Allen's screenplay for Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a further riff on the unique, unpredictable nature of romantic relationships among the human race"

    The View From Greenhaven (2008)

" The gentle toughness of the subject is perhaps deceptive, as the Macrae brothers embark on a story about a man who has shut down three decades ago and has just about used up all the leeway his family is prepared to give him."

    The Visitor (2008)

" Beautifully cast and superbly performed, The Visitor never steps off the mark either emotionally or in character development. Richard Jenkins, usually in support roles, rises to the lead occasion with grace and a marvellously restrained performance"
