Adam Jared Brody (born December 15, 1979) is an American actor. He began acting in the early 2000s, and came to fame for his role as Seth Cohen on the successful television series, The O.C. He has also appeared in several film roles, including Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Thank You for Smoking and the upcoming In the Land of Women.
Biography
Early life
Brody was born in San Diego, California, the oldest son of Jewish American parents Mark Brody (a lawyer) and Valerie Siefman (a graphic artist). He has younger twin brothers, Sean and Matt. Brody moved to Hollywood in 1999, hiring an acting coach and quickly signing with a manager.
Career
After a year of training and auditioning, Brody landed the role of Barry Williams in the TV movie, Growing up Brady. He landed recurring roles on Gilmore Girls and the Canadian comedy television series Sausage Factory. In 2003, he began playing his most famous role to date, Seth Cohen (a slightly awkward seventeen year old) on the television show, The O.C..

He was named one of People Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive and Hottest Hollywood Bachelors.
Chosen by Teen People as one of the "25 hottest stars under 25" in 2004 and 2005.
Voted as Elle Girl Magazine Coolest Guy Celeb and Coolest TV Star.
Teen Choice Awards - Choice Actor: Drama/Action Adventure in 2004,2005 and 2006.
Brody appeared alongside Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, his biggest movie role to date. Most recently, he was seen as Rob Lowe's assistant in the film adaptation of Thank You For Smoking. Brody will co-produce the upcoming remake of the 1984 film Revenge of the Nerds. He has finished filming In The Land of Women, opposite Meg Ryan, and will appear in Smiley Face and The Ten; all three of the films are scheduled for a release in 2007. Currently, he is working with Rachel Bilson's father, Danny Bilson in a comic series published under the Wildstorm imprint titled "Red Menace."

Personal life
Currently, Brody lives in Los Angeles and is dating his O.C. co-star Rachel Bilson. He and Bilson share two dogs named Penny Lane and Thurmen Murmen. He also plays drums for the band Big Japan, with fellow actor Bret Harrison.
Brody has volunteered as an actor with the Young Storytellers Program, which is dedicated to developing literacy, self-expression and self-esteem in elementary school children.
Brody is a secular Jew.
