Biography

Christopher Frederick Klein (born March 14 1979) is an American actor. He is perhaps best known for his role in American Pie.

Biography

Early life

Klein was born in Hinsdale, Illinois to Terese and Fred Klein, an engineer. He has a sister, Debbie, and a younger brother, Tim. Klein moved to Omaha, Nebraska as a young teenager and played quarterback and linebacker in high school.

Career

As a senior in high school, Klein was offered his first professional acting job by director Alexander Payne, who was scouting Millard West High School as a potential filming location for the movie Election. The film was released in April of 1999 to positive reviews, and Klein was next seen in American Pie, which opened on July 9, 1999 and was a box office success. Klein has subsequently appeared in several films catering to teenage audiences, with the most recent including Just Friends (2005) and American Dreamz (2006).

Personal life

Klein briefly attended Texas Christian University, where he studied theatre and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. In early 2004, he became engaged to long-time girlfriend Katie Holmes, but the two broke off the engagement in early of 2005. After she became engaged to Tom Cruise, Holmes initially claimed that she was still close to Klein and talked with him daily. Klein disputed her story in a November 2005 interview with Details magazine. Currently he is romantically linked with actress Ginnifer Goodwin and recently they went public.

In February 2005, Klein was arrested in San Diego, California after being pulled over for erratic driving by the police. His BAC was 0.20 (the legal limit in California is 0.08) as measured by a Breathalyzer test. He has been charged with two misdemeanors for the offense and faces a possible six months of jail for each if convicted.

Klein was the focus of a Punk'd segment in which host Ashton Kutcher repeatedly mocks his performance as Jonathan Cross in the 2002 film Rollerball. Despite seeing cameramen and audio specialists in his own home, Klein remains ignorant to the set-up and ducks for cover when told to do so.

Klein has one false front tooth. He lost the original in a football accident in high school.
