Héctor Eduardo Babenco (born February 7, 1946 in Buenos Aires) is a critically acclaimed Argentine-born Brazilian-naturalised film director, screenwriter, producer and actor.

Accolades
Babenco was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Director in 1986 for Kiss of the Spider Woman. Three of Babenco's films have been in the running for the Palm D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
