Jason Biggs (born James Grandi, Jr. on May 12, 1978) is an American actor who obtained wide fame in 1999 for his role in the American Pie series of films.

Biography

Early life

Biggs, an Italian American Catholic, was born in Pompton Plains, New Jersey to Angela, a nurse, and Gary Biggs, a shipping company manager.

Career

Biggs began acting at the age of five. In 1991, he made his television debut in the short lived Fox network series Drexell's Class. That same year, Biggs debuted on Broadway in Conversations With My Father, which helped pave the way for Biggs to participate in the daytime soap opera, As the World Turns. He was nominated for the award of Best Younger Actor at the daytime Emmy awards for his role in that soap.

Biggs attended New York University briefly from 1996 to 1997, but soon afterwards, he returned to pursue his acting. And so he would be seen again in another short lived television series, 1997's Camp Stories. He went on to make American Pie, which went on to become an international hit that has spawned two sequels. After that, Biggs accepted starring roles in movies such as Loser in 2000, and others. In 2004/05 season Biggs portrayed an Orthodox Jew in Daniel Goldfarb's comedy, Modern Orthodox, staged at Dodger Stages theater in New York City. In 2006, Biggs was seen in the MTV reality show "Blowin' Up" with Jamie Kennedy and Stu Stone and was for the most part viewed as the antagonist, creating a beef of sorts with Kennedy and Stone. However, when Kennedy and Stone had a minor feud, Stone befriended Biggs, leading Stone to record a hip-hop diss record against Kennedy entitled "F*** Jamie Kennedy". The song featured Bay Area rap artist E-40 and Jason Biggs himself.

Personal life

Biggs has joked in interviews about the fact that he is often cast as an explicitly or implicitly Jewish character, as he was in American Pie (other examples include Darren Silverman or Jerry Falk), although he is of Italian Catholic background.

Trivia

  • Jason was always picked on in elementary school for being a nerd. He was once playing in front of his house in New Jersey and a guy driving a black Nissan Maxima pulled into Jason's driveway and was about to attack Jason for having an attitude.
  • He is constantly shouted at and abused by spotters over the pie sex scene from American Pie and made reference to the fact he is always remembered as "the pie fucker" in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
  • Appeared in a youth-rally for John Kerry
  • Has been dating actress Lindsay Zir for over a year and a half. The two met while working together Off-Broadway at Dodger Stages in New York City. He was performing in "Modern Orthodox" and she was in "Pieces (of Ass)."
