Kristen Jaymes Stewart (born April 9, 1990) is an American actress. She is perhaps best known for her roles in Panic Room, Catch That Kid and Zathura.

Biography

Personal life

Stewart was born in Los Angeles, CaliforniaState of California. California Birth Index, 1905-1995. Center for Health Statistics, California Department of Health Services, Sacramento, California. Lists Kristen Jaymes Stewart as 9 April, 1990 in Los Angeles, California. At Ancestry.com and spent part of her childhood in Colorado. Her father, John Stewart, is a TV producer who works for FOX television; she has an older brother, Cameron. She is an avid surfer and lives with her family in Los Angeles.

Career

Stewart had a minor role in the 1999 made-for-television film, The Thirteenth Year, and subsequently appeared in the independent film, The Safety of Objects where she played troubled single mother Patricia Clarkson's tomboy daughter. Stewart subsequently got her first taste of major Hollywood success in the thriller, Panic Room where she was cast as divorcée Meg's sullen, diabetic daughter Sarah. She became an even more felicitous choice when original star Nicole Kidman dropped out and Foster stepped in. Though critics were less than ecstatic about the film, Stewart still garnered positive notice for her believable presence as Foster's offspring.

After Panic Room's success, Stewart was cast in another thriller, Cold Creek Manor, playing the daughter of Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone's characters, although this film generally failed at the box office. Her first starring role followed, in the children's action-comedy, Catch That Kid, opposite Max Thieriot and Corbin Bleu. To date, Stewart’s most critically acclaimed role may be in the television film, Speak (2004). Stewart, only 13 at the time of filming, plays a high school freshman who is raped and has to deal with emotional turmoil. The role was particularly difficult because the main character has very few speaking lines. Stewart has received great praise for her portrayal of teenage emotions.

Most recently, Stewart appeared in the science fiction-adventure film, Zathura, which was released in November 2005. Her upcoming film roles include In the Land of Women, a romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and Adam Brody (scheduled for April 20, 2007), and The Messengers, a suspense-thriller about a haunted house (scheduled for February 2, 2007).
