Lee Holmes (born 2 April 1987) is an English football midfielder who currently plays for Derby County. Holmes is widely tipped to play top level football in the future. He is currently on loan at Bradford City in League One.
Discovered by George Burley a former Derby County and Ipswich Town manager, Holmes made his debut for Derby on Boxing Day 2002 against and broke the record for the youngest ever Derby player to pull on the famous white shirt. Aged 16 years and 30 days, Holmes was a record breaker.
It wasn't all happiness however and Holmes faced an inevitable struggle in form which saw a two year loan move to Swindon Town which provided him with first team experience in the rather physical League One, the objective being to make him a regular goalscorer, toughen him up, add to his ball control and powerful striking.
He only played 15 times, scoring the one goal in a 1-1 stalemate against Doncaster Rovers.
Holmes has played at England Under 19 level and signed a three year contract recently with the Rams.
