Mary Arden (c. 1540-1608) was the mother of William Shakespeare. She most likely married John Shakespeare in 1557. The Ardens were a prominent Warwickshire family. She was the youngest of eight daughters of Robert Arden, and she inherited her father's farm and land when he died.
Mary gave birth to eight children: Joan, Margaret, William, Gilbert, June, Anne, Richard, and Edmund.
Her mother was Mary Webb, born in Stratford on Avon, on 5 Feb 1511, who married Robert Arden in about 1530.
Abigail Webb, Mary Webb and Henry Alexander Webb were siblings.
Abigail Webb married Richard Shakespeare, father of John Shakespeare and grandfather of William Shakespeare.
Henry Alexander Webb married Grace Arden, sister of Robert Arden.
