Show me the movies!
By Jeff Giles on Wednesday, Dec. 24 2008, 12:02 PM comment71 Comments

Over the last 25 years, he's completed three impossible missions, learned about Wapner time, and driven the highway to the danger zone -- but Tom Cruise has never been the subject of a Total Recall, so in honor of the about-to-reach-theaters Valkyrie, we're here to look back at the best-reviewed films of his career.

Ho-ho-horror! 10 Scary Christmas Movies

If you think A Christmas Carol looks scary, check out these 10 holiday frights
By Michael Adams on Wednesday, Nov. 04 2009, 05:44 PM Comment36 Comments

This week's eerie mo-cap rendering of the ghostly, dark Dickens morality tale 'A Christmas Carol' from director Robert Zemeckis is far from being the only yuletide movie where heartwarming ho-ho-hos are as likely as horrific moments. From Saint Nick battling Martians, Satan, takeover bids from misguided Halloween skeletons and alcoholism, to the holiest of holidays run amok with carolling, cackling little green monsters, suicidal family men, deranged slashers and WWF stars dispensing seasonal platitudes, we give you 10 grim stuffing stockers guaranteed to wish you a very scary Christmas. Pass the egg nog, the butcher knife and the animatronic reindeer...

John Hurt Talks Harry Potter, Quentin Crisp and Alien - The RT Interview

The legendary thesp on the state of British film.
By Joe Utichi on Wednesday, Nov. 04 2009, 08:35 AM Comment14 Comments

John Hurt has been one of Britain's finest acting talents since his career began in the 60s, but it's his roles in films like Alien, Midnight Express and The Elephant Man -- to name a few -- which put him on the international map and for which he's best remembered. At the Dinard Festival of British Film last month to screen An Englishman in New York, a biopic of gay writer Quentin Crisp's time in the Big Apple, Hurt sat down with RT to talk about the film and his wider career, including Alien, Indiana Jones and his upcoming turn in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

This week, the little movie that could: celebrated arthouse auteur Michael Bay overcomes funding difficulties and triumphs over the studio system with his moving, personal vision in 'Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen'. Plus, Harrison Ford gets back to playing old grouches in earnest political dramas, Jennifer Aniston gets stalked (go figure) and Ethan Hawke and Mark Ruffalo play brothers of the non-'Bloom' variety.

12 Facts About 2012

We take a journey through Roland Emmerich's disaster epic.
By Matt Mueller on Monday, Nov. 02 2009, 07:23 AM Comment132 Comments

Did the Mayans really predict, all those centuries ago, that Earth would be visited by planetary apocalypse three years from now? It's open to interpretation -- Roland Emmerich has a gargantuan disaster movie to sell and even he admits the whole 2012 theory is just, "a nice hook for the audience." John Cusack, Thandie Newton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover are a few of the stars swept up in Emmerich's latest cataclysmic shocker. Rotten Tomatoes meets the cast and director in Cancun, Mexico - close to the once-throbbing heart of Mayan civilisation -- for a 2012 fact-finding mission.

Richard Kelly chats about The Box

RT caught up with the Donnie Darko director to ask about his new sci-fi thriller
By Jen Yamato on Thursday, Oct. 29 2009, 04:25 PM Comment1 Comment

Richard Kelly's no stranger to the mysterious whims of fate. His first feature, Donnie Darko, flopped upon initial release, only to live on as one of the decade's most beloved cult movies. But his much-anticipated follow up, the difficult-if-memorable Southland Tales, vanished without a trace. This week Kelly will be hoping to change his fortunes with his third film, The Box, a sci-fi thriller based on a short story from Twilight Zone writer Richard Matheson. We spoke with him recently to ask about it.
