Darth Vader is considered one of cinema’s most commanding villains, but when it comes right down to it, he’s also the poster boy for intergalactic deadbeats. Growing up on Tatooine, Luke Skywalker had to make do without his dad, who was too busy trying to conquer the universe to call or write. (And it seems unlikely he ever paid child support.) Luke got off easy; dear old dad blew up his daughter Leia’s childhood planet. Of course, once he finds out his son has the Force, then he wants to have a relationship. He turns into one of those over-involved parents who live vicariously through their more-talented offspring.
