He discovers that the car accident which lead to his unconscious state claimed the life of his wife, and the police suspect him of murdering a famous pop star. Ben's sense of disorientation at this news is heightened by plenty of visual trickery deployed by director Marc Evans (MY LITTLE EYE), who litters the hospital where the bulk of the film plays out with lashes of David Lynch-inspired imagery. Mena Suvari (AMERICAN BEAUTY) makes a few brief appearances as Charlotte, whom Ben becomes infatuated with, and the action builds slowly to an unforgettable climax. [More]

A film this unpleasant should at least be absorbing. This one is a hard film to get into and it really does not reward that effort.

Trauma is obviously not the scariest film ever made, but it has a fair good crack.

Influenced by Japanese horror movies... we are treated to ants running free, TVs which transmit nothing but hiss, spooky psychiatrists and mediums to little or no purpose.

There's an eerie creepiness about this psychological thriller that really gets into your head.

By the time the narrative starts heading somewhere remotely interesting (i.e. a murder or a revelation or just SOMEthing), you may be too groggy to notice...

Lurks around like it's some kind of innovative, all-original psychological thriller, when in fact it rates a big fat "so what?"
