vashfanatic writes: on Oct 02 2008 09:22 PM In reply to this comment (#2058560) very few documentaries score big at the box office; i can only think of March of the Penguins and An Inconvenient Truth (offer any others if you can think of them). I rarely watch documentaries on the big screen; they don't usually lose much in the transfer to DVD. I'd guess either Chihuahua or Nick & Nora to take the top spot. (Reply to this) |

CoUcH ToMaToE DoUgIe writes: on Oct 02 2008 09:33 PM Yep, when the top expectant grossing film is based on talking Chihuahuas, then you know to say home. I wam interesting in that Nick and Norah movie only due to the hotness of Kat Dennings, damn she turns me on. Also, I'm curious into finding if the typical Michael Cera's character has already grown old on me. Please, Cera show everyone you can actually act and not just play the same character in each and every movie. Likewise, I want to see that Flash of Genius movie but fear I'll have to wait until it shows on cable. Finally, best of luck to Kirk Cameron's uplifting little film that is far superior than some of the crap opening this weekend. P.S. Joker, I regard you as a friend and a respected peer, but in all honesty please don't promote either of these awful political movies. Neither seem all that good and the critics tend to agree that you should see the freakin Chihuahua movie instead. Now, if i was forced to see either, I would see American Carol just because I think if anyone deserves humilation its that fat bastard, Michael Moore & how can I not see a movie starring a Farrley brother? So, I guess American Carol is the better of the two stinkers. Plus, Bill Maher is an *******. (Reply to this) |

vashfanatic writes: on Oct 03 2008 06:11 AM In reply to this comment (#2058796) Actually, at this point "Chihuahua" is doing pretty badly; in fact, he seems to have gotten the reviews mixed on it at "Nick and Nora;" the first is in the 40s and the latter in the 70s. AS for "Religulous," most of the positive reviews have tended to say it really isn't a documentary, just a chance for Maher to do a long-running riff on how he finds religion silly (or parts of religion he finds silly; still not clear on this yet). Negative reviews tend to say he makes some very good points, but is kind of a **** about it. Like I say, I'll probably rent it. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Oct 03 2008 08:29 AM In reply to this comment (#2058796) Thank u for your kind words, but come on its Bill Maher, he is too AWESOME! I'm seeing it today I gotta! I'm also strangely thinking about How to Lose friends and Alienate people since EBERT gave it ***1/2 and Simon Pegg is awesome and The Dude is in it, and that talentless but hot Megan Fox! vitajex writes: on Oct 03 2008 12:21 PM I used to like Bill Maher quite a bit, and I actually agree with 80% or so of his views. However, my admiration has paled greatly as he gets older and becomes more of a crotchety old man, standing on his front porch calling every paperboy that passes by an idiot and screaming that "the 'Publicans stole my meds" (which they did, but is beside the point). He is snide, condescending, rude and often substitutes vitriole for humor. (Reply to this) |

diablo-wy writes: on Oct 03 2008 12:50 PM Very excited about An American Carol....it's about time the Hollywood left is called out for who/what they are; and have always been a fan of Zucker since the classic Airplane. Apaloosa looks good, hope it will be coming my way soon. Bill Maher is an idiot, enough said. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Oct 03 2008 09:44 PM Religulous was really good, definitely at par with Borat even better I think. I might either say Appaloosa or How to lose friends and alienate people tomorrow. Shame about BLINDNESS, great director, City of God is a masterpiece, guess I'm gonna see what went wrong with it on video. (Reply to this) |

Relapse writes: on Oct 05 2008 05:05 PM Why can't Bill Maher just respect that everybody has their own beliefs? Just because he hates religion doesn't mean it should be mocked. Actually, I think I may agree with him on certain points but I still respect other peoples' beliefs. I think he was touched as a child. (Reply to this) |

CoUcH ToMaToE DoUgIe writes: on Oct 05 2008 06:45 PM In reply to this comment (#2064416) Bravo, Relapse, Bravo. I consistantly ask this question and wonder why no stands up to Maher's hateful speech?I have this strange idea of respecting all people's beliefs and its sad this idiot gets attention, and acclaim for simple hate speech. Still, he is the biggest joke of all! Thank you for all those who agredd with me... and for those who didn't, I wonder how you would feel if something you hold dear - that is vital to someone's life- was openly mocked and disrespected?
