JUDGE DREDD writes: on Jun 22 2009 05:11 AM Film better be Better than the pics. Looks like stage production rather than a film. Martin shorts Mad Hatter was better. Still, hoping the film will be great, but not a fan of the images so far. (Reply to this) |

De4ective Detectiv3 writes: on Jun 22 2009 12:00 PM From what they say, this adaptation is supposed to stick closer to the book, something the animated version was critisized for. Is it just me or does Johny Depp look like the Wendys girl if she dev. a meth problem. (Reply to this) |

TheCaptain of TeamLoyalty writes: on Jun 22 2009 12:11 PM Oh okay, for some reason i thought Disney was distributing it. (Reply to this) |

Wallcloud writes: on Jun 22 2009 01:30 PM In reply to this comment (#2515452) Disney IS distributor I think because they own the movie rights, several companies are usually involved in big productions but only the production & distributor companies get slated at the start of the movie (Reply to this) |

Scarborough Fair writes: on Jun 22 2009 01:42 PM I have a feeling that this will suffer the same problems as The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory remake. Tim Burton's storytelling has taken a backseat to his visual style. Two of my favourite movies of all time are Beetlejuice and 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'. Nightmare really succeeds because he didn't direct it, I think. This movie looks over-stylized. It's like someone doing an impression of Tim Burton's style, but for a runway show in Milan. Bob S. writes: on Jun 22 2009 01:48 PM Not much to go on here, but FWIW, I like Tim Burton in general and think his fascination with the macabre will mesh well with a darker, more faithful adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book. (Reply to this) |

frogboy writes: on Jun 22 2009 02:55 PM Those pictures are AMAZING! This is how the film should look. Many studios and artists have attempted this adaptation and all have fallen short. It's been said that Walt Disney was disappointed in his classic animated version. Tim Burton has made some bonehead style-over-substance choices yet that's why this avant garde story is perfect for him. And this time around it appears he actually showed more reverence to the source material and what has come before. This will be big, how big is the question. That can't be predicted. In the end this might actually be the best film of his career (seeing that Batman has been vastly improved upon and that Nightmare seems to have been more Selick's doing). I hope this is the Alice that never needs to be remade. I've been disappointed in some of Burton's recent projects, but this gets 100% support from me thus far. (Reply to this) |

Matthew M. writes: on Jun 22 2009 04:33 PM My problem. The the concept of a 19 year old Alice revisiting Wonderland, is a concept used in "The Looking Glass Wars." While it seems the story may not be exact this could become an issue, as I know they are looking at creating a film based of us this trilogy. It is an interesting series in which Alice is actually a princess of Wonderland who transported out of Wonderland when her evil Aunt Red attacks, and kills her Mother. She returns when she is 19, and must reclaim her throne. The third book comes out in August, and the other in the series is called "Seeing Red." (Reply to this) |

ColinTheCimmerian writes: on Jun 22 2009 08:33 PM Looks awesome! I think this has a lot of potential, I just hope he can pull it off. Although I'm a big fan of Burton, I feel like he's been on a bit of a slide for a while now. I don't think he's done anything really great since Sleepy Hollow, and that was 10 years ago. Big Fish and Corpse Bride were ok, but I don't think they're up to par with his older work. I'm really hoping for a return to form here. (Reply to this) |
