The doctor who treats her is disturbed by the nature of her wounds. More women are attacked while, at the same time, a young man in town has the same nightmare of a girl being tortured in the 17th Century, while a man holding a ledger looks on. The ledger comes into the possesion of the doctor who makes the conclusion that the thing attacking the women is an incubus, a mythological creature that must transform itself into human shape in order to procreate. Reviews for The Incubus
Cassevetes hams it up big time, but that's about the only good thing in this film.
it forces you to constantly wonder whether it's so disturbing because it was meant to be ... or if it because of ineptitude on the filmmaker's part.
