Larry Cohen Plans Remakes of It's Alive, Black Caesar, and The Stuff
Summary
Long before he wrote movies like "Phone Booth," "Cellular," and (ugh) "Captivity," filmmaker Larry Cohen was making horror movies about killer babies. And (guess what?) he just got done on the remake of his own "It's Alive." Back to Article

bustahwolf writes: on Jul 20 2007 07:29 AM This seems like a unique situation, you don't normally hear of a writer/director deciding to sit down and try to remake a sizable chunk of his own library. My first reaction to the news is negative, which probably comes from watching Lucas "remaster" the SW films over and over again. But hey, if Cohen can bring the same sort of fun as he did the first time around, all power to him. I'd love to see how he'd make the Stuff now, lord knows there's enough to make fun of just from our current consumerism and obesity problems. (Reply to this) |

knowingtoast85 writes: on Jul 21 2007 12:05 PM In reply to this comment (#955478) My fond memories of HA2 were all but crushed when I saw it again recently. What a total letdown. Larry Cohen's recent scripts are just being taken too seriously. "Phone Booth" could have been the next in his repertoire of great trash if they didn't feel the need to cast big, talented-but-ill-fitting stars or take a magical FX trip through a bunch of telephone wires. "The Stuff" is great on its own terms, let's not play at unecessarily legitimizing it. (Reply to this) |
