Even when the film gets slow, it's nearly impossible to turn away and risk missing the next beautifully framed shot.

The story begins in the 13th century, as the Knights Templar destroy a village to erect a cathedral on the land. Flashing forward to the present, the cathedral is now haunted and, because a long sealed crypt has recently been opened, a torrent of evil spirits is rushing through the building, possessing its inhabitants and trapping them inside the building. As, one by one, each of them loses their minds, the remaining few must fight for their lives to stop the evil from escaping the church. [More]

Reviews for The Church
I don’t know what YOU generally look for in a horror flick, but unless it’s "talking and lots of it" I’d stay far away from this one.
Sovai doesn't settle for the easy, opting instead for a more oblique and suggestive, rather than graphic, approach to the material
There is no denying the dreaminess of Soavi's stream-of-consciousness horror show.
