Gable plays Dr. Ulysses Delby Johnson, a self-centered physician too busy with the ritzy New York social scene to help disease-ridden patients. But with the outbreak of war, the doctor is enlisted into the Medical Corps and shipped off to Africa. Turner plays a nurse, Lt. Jane McCall, nicknamed Snapshot for her fine looks. She takes an immediate disliking to Gable's shallow practitioner, and in the field they argue vociferously. But after she leaves, her low estimate of his character causes him to reflect and change for the better. When they meet again in Paris on leave, they fall in love--but with Gable's Johnson already wed, there's more than just a war on hand as an obstacle. Mervy LeRoy (30 SECONDS OVER TOKYO, RANDOM HARVEST) directs this tale of star-crossed love, based on Sidney Kingsley's story "The Homecoming of Ulysses." [More]
