New Comic Book Flick Alert: Mandrake the Magician!
Summary
I'm not much for magicians, but apparently this Criss Angel guy is pretty famous, right? He's got a TV series called "Mind Freak," so somebody out there knows who he is. Anyway, he's turning an old comic book called "Mandrake the Magician" into a movie. Back to Article

Metafact writes: on Jun 05 2007 01:48 AM No good magic movies? LOL! That last comment (along with the uninspiring director involved) already tips me off to the fact that this Mandrake film is probably going to suck. It's clear that Criss Angel is oblivious to what's going on in the film industry. Remember when Darren Aronofsky was making The Fountain and he kept talking about how there are no movies that explore immortality (completely ignoring the Highlander series, Tuck Everlasting, The Spring, and two whole Star Trek films)? Then The Fountain came out and it ended up being a major disappointment (yes, I know there are many of you who love that film, I'm merely speaking from a historical point of view). That's because Aronofsky didn't explore any themes that hadn't already been explored, since he mistakenly believed that his film was doing something completely new. I was never a fan of Criss Angel, mainly because I thought he was basically a gothed-out ripoff of David Blaine. This project has "B-movie" written all over it. (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Jun 05 2007 05:50 PM "Mind Explosion"? lol. Gotta love that Chris Angel, huh? I gotta go with Metafact on this one, he's a gothed out David Blaine. I remember Chris Rock calling David Blaine a "trickless magician". It was a funny joke, but far from accurate. Sure, a lot of his big tricks are stupid. But the same goes for Chris Angel. Both of them are best when doing small tricks in the street. I have no assumptions about this movie though, but Angel loses points for his closing comment for sure. (Reply to this) |

lindsey writes: on Jul 10 2007 01:05 PM he said that movies and magic don't ALWAYS go together that doesn't mean they never have and he's right they don't always go together well it's hard to do what he does on his show and make it believable (Reply to this) |
