Harper's soulless family is obsessed with money and society. Fed up with that plastic life, she leaves home to live and work with the much older Connie. He wants her to make a five-year commitment during which he'll school her in the ways of life, love, and lenses, teaching her to find the art within her and to create. But Harper soon finds out that behind the facade of an exciting artist lies a lonely, stuggling man. Audrey Wells's debut feature film, GUINEVERE is a moving portrait of a young woman's coming of age. Sarah Polley and Stephen Rea strike all the right chords as their May-December romance blossoms. The supporting cast, including Jean Smart, Gina Gershon, and Carrie Preston (with cameos by Paul Dooley, Sandra Oh, Jasmine Guy, and Grace Una) helps bring the charming story to life, resulting in a bitterweet tale of young love and burgeoning creativity. ...a story about bad love — and how, sometimes, that is exactly what we needed at the time.

I admire the filmmakers because they steadfastly refused to tack on a Hollywood ending.
