The events and discoveries of Freud leading up to the book's release are the focus of this PBS documentary from director David Grubin (THE SECRET LIFE OF THE BRAIN). The influence of one of Freud's first instructors, Ernst Wilhelm von Brucke, is studied as are early theories of Freud's on a myriad of topics from hypnotism to the use of the drug cocaine to the birth of free association.
