How long does it take Rotten Tomatoes to get over Dave Chung's doomed departure out of the Fox lot? Only a week apparently! RT creative director Gabi Jacobs joins this week's critical video fray, along with regular holdovers Matt Atchity and Jennifer Yamato. Click on the video player below for all the fun, as the three discuss and dissect the critics' opinions on sci-fi revival The X-Files: I Want to Believe, and the man-child tantrum opus, Step Brothers!
Check back for next week's Review Revue, in which we'll delve into the latest Mummy installment, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, and the Kevin Costner election-themed comedy, Swing Vote.

thereign writes: on Jul 25 2008 09:15 PM Just came from X-Files. The truth is out there: the new movie's lame. And based on the emptiness of my theater(9:30pm showing), The Dark Knight is going to leave Mulder and Scully broken and bloody in an alley this weekend(big surprise there). (Reply to this) |

CoUcH ToMaToE DoUgIe writes: on Jul 25 2008 09:36 PM In reply to this comment (#1924031) Hahaha, Jonah hill is in too many comedies!! Hilarious, joke HeadyNuggSmoker. Also, completely agree with you thereign... the Dark Knight is gonna mess poor Mulder & Scully real bad. I'm wonderin' though, will it beat out Step Brothers? On a complete random observation I have made. Does anyone feel that Will Ferrell's comedy, at certain times, resembles the act of Chevy Chase? When he's acting serious, I sometimes get that Chevy vibe. Just ponderin... (Reply to this) |

balanceman writes: on Jul 26 2008 01:04 AM I also saw the X-files at an afternoon showing. Only about 30 people in the theatre. However, the movie is okay. Not great but feels just like an episode of the show. Which is going to disappoint a lot of fans expecting more. Really, this could have been a made for tv movie. It is not as bad as the critics are saying. Obviously, they have enough years of experience as to not make it suck but come on...we waited 6 years! Chris Carter you should have try harder! Why don't you just give us a new 2 hour X-files tv movie each year? (Reply to this) |

CaptainSiberia writes: on Jul 26 2008 07:55 AM And then Step Brothers fell to Rotten. I like the new guy. He works. "The truth _is_ out there, Gillian." I will always think of those characters in terms of their fight with the Men in Black on Celebrity Deathmatch. (Reply to this) |

John Z. Delorean writes: on Jul 26 2008 11:36 AM TDK smashes both these flicks. Though I had hopes for the X-Files movie. Please let Will Ferrel bomb, he's the new Adam Sandler and thats no compliment. (Reply to this) |

superbourne writes: on Jul 26 2008 11:46 AM Step brothers was a fun time, the tea bagging of the drum set was classic. Will and Reilly are a great team. Reilly is a great actor; that dude can do anything, he is so versatile. Love any movie he is in. (Reply to this) |

Young Turk writes: on Jul 26 2008 12:00 PM And the Batman takes it's second weekend obliterating the box office. Between Step Brothers, X-Files and the other new releases I'll take Batman again. (Reply to this) |

JettaJameson writes: on Jul 26 2008 04:10 PM In reply to this comment (#1923547) I'd rather go see The Dark Knight for a third time than see either of these new movies and I rarely see a movie more than once in theaters. I'm so sick of Will Ferrell. He's not funny!!! I stopped enjoying his "work" after he left SNL. (Reply to this) |

TombstoneLawDog writes: on Jul 26 2008 09:22 PM Uh, ..yeah. TDK will *kind* of do horrible things to X Files, Step Brothers and anything else coming out this weekend- My prediction: Bats by at least 15 Million over 2nd place. What's going to be kind of fun is next weekend when Brendan Fraser trots out his wanna-be (shoulda-been? Never-was?) franchise, complete with Rob Cohen pretending he's a real director, and TDK lovingly tours them through the wupp-@ss factory. (Reply to this) |

John Z. Delorean writes: on Jul 27 2008 05:51 PM In reply to this comment (#1926295) Truer words my man...Ferrell trots out the same retard characters for every flick and people eat it up. That's why I don't dig on comedies at all because it's just lets go to the genitalia and toilet humor that's been done in every flick before us and this includes Apatows flicks. Nothing new. MovieBuff318 writes: on Jul 28 2008 08:26 PM Uh, yeah, Step Bros was great, but did we really need to Ferrell's ball sack? That. Was. Disgusting. (Reply to this) |

reapermad writes: on Jul 30 2008 11:01 AM I wish Will Ferrell would realize he's just making the same damn movie over and over. He needs to pull a Jim Carrey and get back into more serious fare. Stranger Than Fiction was soooo good. Please, Mr. Ferrell, make better movies. (Reply to this) |
