Lush and vividly photographed, it tells the story of a group of elitist, upper-class friends who gather for a night of hedonistic celebration on an ornate houseboat. Visited by a young reporter, who wants to write a journalistic piece on the group, they are confronted by their growing awareness of their own pain and alienation. Set in 1967, just before the start of the big war, the film offers a glimpse of a society in the midst of social upheaval and an aristocracy who are painfully aware of their imminent decay. [More]
