Consensus: This Disney two-fer may not be the most reverent literary adaptation, but it's remarkably crafted and emotionally resonant.

Walt Disney's 11th animated feature includes two classic stories: "The Wind in the Willows," narrated by Basil Rathbone, is based on the story by Kenneth Grahame, in which Mr. Toad's love of motorcars gets him and his friends in trouble with a gang of devious rats. Reviews for The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
The most competently animated of all the package films, and for the Disney animators in their prime, mere competence was a surpassingly high mark.
Split into two sequences, this feature-length cartoon is one of Disney's finest efforts, with attention paid to every animated detail.
Mr. Disney, abetted by his staff, such perfect narrators as Bing Crosby and Basil Rathbone, and a pair of durable literary works, has fashioned a conclave of cartoon creatures, which... have the winsome qualities and charm of Mickey Mouse, Dumbo, et al.
The Wind in the Willows adaptation has a gag-a-shot scenario, breakneck pace and plays like an extended Donald Duck short.
A Disney story like many others with plenty of interesting diversions.
