Michael Biehn Hopin', Wishin' and Waitin' for "Avatar"
by Fred Topel | April 08, 2007
Discuss Article
James Cameron staple actor Michael Biehn ("Terminator," "Aliens," "The Abyss") must be happy that the director is coming back to narrative filmmaking with "Avatar." It's likely to be a reunion between the actor and Oscar winner.

"I've had a couple meetings with Jim on that role," Biehn said. "Those meetings took place about four months ago. I'm still in the mix as far as I know. I haven't been offered it."

Though some websites report more detailed info, Biehn says himself that it's still up to Cameron. "There've been a lot of people on the internet like Harry Knowles of aintitcoolnews.com and some other sites that have said that they have sources saying that they know that I'm doing it but so far I haven't heard from Jim. I've got my fingers crossed."

Even if he doesn't get the part, Biehn will be a fan. "That's going to be amazing. It's basically "Lawrence of Arabia" in space if you can imagine that."

I have always thought Biehn was a good actor. The film sounds interesting - it will be good to see another Cameron film.

I'm still iffy when it comes to Biehn. I hated him in "Terminator" and the "Abyss", but thought he was the best part of "Tombstone". He always seemed like one of those action stars that takes himself too seriously. I'll check him out in Grindhouse. But then, Grindhouse is probably not the best movie to prove one's acting chops

He was awsome in Terminator. I think he's one of those rare action-type of actors that can show vulnerability and emotion. I'd take him over a wooden Steven Seagal or a stiff Keanu Reeves anyday.

Michael Biehn is seriously under-rated. He was perfect in The Terminator, Aliens and The Abyss. I'd love to see him in Avatar.

Bring back Al Matthews (Apone) and Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez), what the hell. Just make sure Apone is chewing on his cigar. "Nobody touch nothing!"

I hope he doesn't bring in Bill Paxton. I've had enough of him.
