Summary

The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation has issued its annual press release announcing the latest batch of Razzie nominees. In an ever-more-crowded field of bad scripts, bad acting, and all-around bad films, the Foundation has somehow managed to narrow its nominations down to a select few. Back to Article

And bloodrayne. I think i've recomended that to more people than any other movie. Usually it goes something like this "dude... dude, you have to see this movie. Bloodrayne, Yeah, has the worst, more akward sex scene EVER! Trust me, it's that good."

the only movie on the worst movie list i've seen was bloodrayne, i only saw it because everyone was saying how bad it was so i had to see. what an idiot i was, this had to be the worst movie ive ever seen, worse than battleship earth or whatever that crappy l ron hubbard movie with travolta in it was, worse than ishtar, much worse than the only other uwe boll movie ive seen (house of the dead, which was a stinker of course, i mean, wtf is clint howard doing)... i felt so bad for ben kingsley, why in god's name did he star in this crap, the movie played gandhi and was very good in house of sand and fog (supposedly great in sexy beast, didnt see it). now kristana loken and michael madsen were perfect for this crapfest, neither one can act at all..anyways hope uwe gets the razzie, if not, maybe a paraplegic moviecritic will kick his behind

Hopefully, Tim Allen will win for Santa Clause, and Uwe Boll, along with his Bloodrayne wins for everything else. I think Uwe Boll should cast Tim Allen in Far Cry; it would become the only movie that I couldn't sit through.

I like how the worst screenplay nominees are the EXACT same as the worst picture nominees. The razzies really should spread the hating around.. and how about Andy Dick in Employee of the Month? That was probably the worst movie I saw this year because it was one of the few I did not watch on my own volition. Oh, Uhh..that dancing one was pretty bad too..with Brenda from Six Feet Under? Step Up! that's it.

I have to disagree with a couple of these. Mainly anything related to The Santa Clause 3 because, let's face it, it wasn't any worse than the first two, and, I don't think they were in the Razzies, and, TCM:The Beginning, because, I really enjoyed it.

Yeah I am glad that Jessica Simpson and Hilliary Duff were nominated for worst actress. Same as Lindnsey Lohan. Make a choice as a singer or an actress and the roles they play are horrific. I didn't go to the movies this year. I waited for DVD releases. But Superman Returns should be worst picture, and Date Movie should be up there as well.

-Lady in the water was pretty alright, no unbreakable but alright.
-Larry the cable guy does not act, he just walks around being a f@*$ing dumb a$$, so he probably shouldn't even be listed here.
-with all the horribleness that was BloodRayne, kristin Loeken wasn't the worse thing about it, in fact I'd say she acted at least as well if not better then every other moron who signed up for that movie. Kinsley had no excuse.
-Kate bosworth was alright in Superman, even if she wasn't the ideal Lois Lane.
-Posiedon was brainless fun but not bad enough for a razzie.
-anyway the razzies haven't been fun in years.

Lady in the Water does NOT belong on this list at all! Even if the movie needed to take itself less seriously it had a lot of other things going for it. Just because it doesn't compare to M. Night's previous work doesn't mean this was one of the worst movies of the year!

There's some flaws, such as listing "The Omen" on David Thewlis' nomination, and Kate Bosworth (who was quite decent in SR), but overall these noms are much better than last year's. That time they really overdid it with going after overexposed celebrities regardless of their performances. Ron Howard's nomination is priceless though :D

Honestly, I think either Eragon, Click, Pirates, or Children of Men should be there in Lady in the Water's place. All four of those films sucked, Lady in the Water did not.

The Razzies have been bad for years now (which is funny if you think about it). There really is too much "comedic" shock value. Whatever happened to GENUINELY bad movies and acting being recognized? Movies and performances that 90% of the movie going public hated? Since the Razzies have clearly succumbed to the allure of shock "comedy," perhaps another bad movie awards could take its place.

I remember last year Tom Cruise (and Katie Holmes by association) was unfairly nominated because of his wacky antics. I hate Scientology as much as the next rational person, but nominating him because of what he does outside of his movies is messed up.

In terms of sheer incompetence, Bloodrayne cannot be beaten as the worst film of the year, possibly the decade, and strong contender for all time, although i hear his previous films are even worse. Ditto for everone else involved in the film.
The only "Bloodrayne" star I would exclude from winning is Kristanna Loken, but she only gets lucky because ....... Jessica Simpson couldn't be a worse actress if there were a gun pointed to her head. She was God-awful in "Employee". I've clogged toilets with more screen presence.
Agreed Kate Bosworth should not be on that list, but you have to remember that any big-budget film is going to have its haters, and this is a prime example of that bias.

There are two movies missing that should be there: Date Movie and Pirates 2. Pirates 2 for being a charmless teenbopper with a horrendous plot, and Date Movie simply because it's Date Movie.

Worst actor- I'm feeling a nom for Orlando Bloom in Pirates. Lady in the Water was not one of the worst movies of the year either. This is definitely seeming a bit malicious. I understand the nom for Shyamalan's acting, but as worst director, I don't think so. Also, I'll be honest. I saw Eragon and it should have a nomination in every single category, and should win for worst picture. Also, they took a low shot at Ron Howard. He's a very good director. He failed at making good movies like Cinderella Man, so he went to do a surefire blockbuster and everyone just decided they could bash him right then. When guys like Shyamalan and Howard can get nominations, and guys like Bloom and every single human being associated with Eragon get away without anything, it just showes how illegitimate things are.

M. Night still has a lot of fans. They've been mildly annoyed because his last couple movies weren't the next Sixth Sense or Unbreakable, but overall, I think if people are honest with themselves, Lady in the Water at least entertained. I liked it simply for its comedic value. It was by far his funniest movie. I think where people dislike the movie is they think aspects of it are supposed to be taken seriously, when honestly, they aren't. And to the comment above that one, I too liked Pirates 2. That being said, Orlando Bloom uttered some of the worst stated lines I heard in a movie all year. He is so unbelievable, and at the same time popular, that he just seems like an ideal Razzie nom.

Lady gets so much stick because so much was expected of it. Movies that disappoint are always judged more harshly than movies that we expect to be crap ala Bloodrayne. As for Kate Bosworth I didn't think she did a bad job for being badly miscast and Superman Returns has no business being on any razzie list. It was a good film on it's own merits and harkened (that's right I used the word harkened) back to what I loved about the original without being overtly sappy or camp. Can't wait for the sequal.

Kingsley's performance in "Sexy Beast" should disqualify him from ever getting a Razzie. He intimidated the crap out of me, and i was safe sitting on my futon half the world away from the guy. That and Ron Howard was the narrator for arrested development, so once again, immunity.

Obviously the Razzie voters seemed to miss their screening of "Stick It", anyone remember that movie? If you saw it you might vaguely remember wanting one of those memory erasers from Men In Black to forget teh last hour and a half of your life. I'm upset that crap didn't even get one nomination. As for Lasdy in the Water, no it wasn't great, but it was a a hell of a lot better than The Village, and a ton of other movies that should have been nominated. The real travesty here s that Date Movie is only up for nomination and thats only because for Carmen Electra, who though I don't remember her being in it because I've tried to block out that horrible night in the movie theatre, I imagine was one of the few saving graces of that waste of film.

wtf how exactly was Lady in the Water comparable to any of those other movies. I enjoyed LITW for the modernistic fairy tale that it was. Clearly by looking at those nominations, they have some spite because most people expected a different type of movie from M. Night Shyamalan.

Yeah and Ron Howard did a respectable job with the Da Vinci Code.

Nah, Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest sucked horribly. You all just didn't look beyond the OMG REALLY COOL pirates-sword-fighting-in-a-rolling-wheel scene, imo.

Though Bill Nighy made it at a little less excruciating.

I LOOOOOOVED The Pink Panther remake with Steve Martin- he is a comical genious. It was in the league of classic Mel Brooks' comedies- whoever nominated it for a Razzie obviously has no sense of humor.
