Who's Playing Two-Face in "Batman" Sequel?
by RT Staff | October 09, 2006
Discuss Article
Christopher Nolan has confirmed Two-Face will be one of the villains in "The Dark Knight," his follow-up to "Batman Begins," and IGN FilmForce is trying to determine who will play the role.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Phillippe, Liev Schreiber, and Guy Pearce have all been rumored to be in the running for the part, but IGN writes that Schreiber and Pearce seem unlikely, and that Gyllenhaal's people outright denied it.

"Relax, Master Bruce... no one's sure when you'll meet your new archnemisis."

However, according to IGN, no one in Phillippe's camp initially seemed to have an answer on his status for the film before denying it later. Also, because the script has not been completed, there's no word on Katie Holmes' status in the new film. However, Christian Bale and Michael Caine will reprise their roles. Nolan's "The Prestige" hits theaters on Oct. 20.

Who should play dent? They have to be tall, since two face is pretty big, and have to be close in age to bale, since they are friends, so i submit some names for consideration In no particular order:

1. Hugh Jackman (i know he's wolverine, but he is physically right for the part, he's worked with bale and nolan on the prestige, and he could definately pull it off)
2. dougray scott ( was supposed to be wolverine but turned down the part to play MI 2, he fits the bill)
3. guy pearce (worked with nolan on momento and if you saw LA confidental, he has a very "DA" look in that film, although he is a little too short and skinny for two face, but that can be fixed)
4. jude law (i dont really like him, but he looks the part, and transformation from nice harvey to two face could really be a good job, since he is very refined looking and two face is scarred, nice contrast)
5.joaquin pheonix (was my pick for joker but he would be great as two face, harvey dent maybe not so much, but he has played earnest roles like in signs, although a crappy movie, and a bad ***, in gladiator)

others? Eric Bana? Clive Owen? johnny depp? josh lucas (NOOOOOOOOO)? ryan phillipe (looks too young even though he's 32?) Jake gyllenhall (no way, too young and with heath ledger, way too many brokeback jokes)? ed norton (good two face, not so good harvey, although he's got the acting chops)?

i vote either jackman or pheonix

my picks:
- Aaron Eckhart
- Clive Owen
- Guy Pearce

I think Katie Holmes must be involved in the sequel, even if they have to kill her off or something. She wasn't as bad as everyone makes out around here and it would be weird if she inexplicably disappeared.

"Inexplicably disappeared" One line of dialogue can solve that:

Alfred:
"Where did she go?"

Bruce:
"I'm not talking to her, she said Superman was more of a superhero than Batman. That little bitch."

And everyone is happy.

Two Face?

Wasn't Lando In the 1989 Version?

Well he played Harvey Dent anyway

Tommy Lee Jones wan't terrible it was Joel Schum....whatever his name is as the Director

He wanted the 1960's Campy Version.

I l;ike the idea of Aaron Eckhart. I like him as an actor, but he may be a little too old for the role. Maybe Dougray Scott.

I thought Warner Brothers didn't sign Katie Holmes for any sequels because of her lackluster performance? Granted she was that bad, but Bale needs a stronger female love interest. Holmes was bland and her character underwritten.

"the day I knew I wasnt homo" - LOL

Someone mentioned Joaquin Phoenix for the Joker, that would have been interesting, thinking back on Gladiator, he played the evil/creepy antagonist part well.

it's too bad robert downey jr. has already been cast as iron man, after seeing him in the singing detective he was hands down my one and only choice to play harvey dent. i'd be down for joaquin, ed norton, or dougray scott, just no gylenhaal or phillipe please.

I liked Schreiber, but I'd be down for Owen or Pheonix. I'd also like to see Falcone back.

I hope Katie Holmes doesn't come back.

katie holmes
can only return for the following conditions:

She isn't allowed to do any interviews following production or ever again.
She is limited to only 15 minutes on screen time, until they kill her off.
Tom Cruise isn't allowed on set to gay things up.
When on screen, she will keep her nipples under control (scene at the end of Batman Begins when they are walking around the burned-down mansion. Those things were completely unecessary).
She will take acting
She shouldn't be in the movie and they should get someone better... i suggest naomi watts cause she's awesome

Come on, it was refreshing to see a Batman movie where the most prominant nipples on screen weren't latex and attached to the suit.

Well this article doesn't really say at all who's the front runner. I like a lot of the people mentioned, but if I had to pick one, I'll go with Dougray Scott. And yea Basinger did look damn fine. Katie Holmes really wasn't as bad as she's made out to be and only fags go out of their way to complain about nipples in movies.

I like the idea of Jude Law or Guy Pearce, but I have to say I was hoping that Harvey Dent wouldn't make his turn to Two-Face until the third film (hopefully there will be a third). To me, Two-Face and Joker are the deepest characters from the Batman comics and putting them together in the same film would seemingly water them down.

So what is the deal with making all of the characters so young looking? Yea yea, I know these are prequels and they are showing Batman during his first few years, but is it really a good idea to make his enemies all young, 20 year old looking actors?

I just find it difficult to picture all these evil villians being portrayed by young looking actors.

(Yes, I loved Batman Begins)

My opinion
I will write about some things I have seen during these months about this thing of who would play the Two- Face role and one I have just read a few minutes ago. If I have to pick 3 guys to play the Two-face role, my choices would be these: Guy Pierce, Johnny Depp (everybody knows that he becomes the character he plays in his movies, e.g.: Jack Sparrow in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies) and Clive Owen. The last one played a great role as Dwight McCarthy in "Sin City", and not to mention his role in "Inside man", wow! it would be interesting to see him as the famous villain. But I still have two questions in my mind: where's Scarecrow in all this mess? will he appear in the third movie (if Nolan releases it?). In this "Katie Holmes' nipples" subject, well, it was delicious to see that in the last minutes of the movie, and also, those seem natural... she played good in "Batman begins"? she did it good, but not excellent just like Bale, Caine, Neeson, Oldman and Murphy played their roles.

Oh you know you want "Brokeback" Batman... With the retarded casting of Ledger why not bring on Gylenaskdjlaskd, and the whole cast. We can even get good ole' Randy Quaid to "guest-cameo" as Penguin, and he will try to sue everyone! Yay!
