Says the guy who writes for THE CHICAGO READER. So I guess your hip urban audience shares your contempt for the classic movies that everyone else seems to enjoy. Honestly, the movie doesn't try very hard to be clever at all; its moments of genius are austere and understated, as is the case in most Coen bros. films. It reserves most of its film-schoolesque style for the final shot - which is one of the best ever, even if it is conceited.
