One customer pays him not with cash but with Bombon: a large, white, ferocious-looking dog that is meek and accommodating. Villegas learns that the animal has the pedigree to win international shows, as well as becomes a breeding attraction, but Bombon would rather share his bitches' berth than satisfy their lust. [More]

Reviews for Bombon, El Perro
…an optimistic road movie in the vast empty stretches of Patagonia, about a man and a dog. This is not so much acting skill as casting brilliance.
From the director of Historias Minimas comes another wonderfully modest and gentle film, this time about a man, a dog, trust and libido.
It's a bit of a shaggy dog story, with threads that go nowhere, but nobody's in a hurry, and it's easy to go along for the ride.
[Juan Villegas'] vulnerability is so unforced that you can't help being touched.
Sorin takes us off the beaten track, out of the cosmopolitan cities and into the rough, rural heart of Patagonia, lending authenticity to the fictional plot with his use of real locations and a non-professional cast.
Just so much mileage can be squeezed from repeated gestures, wavy two-lane roads, shots through spattered windshields, and faces so framed as to be cut off above the hairline.
A bittersweet tale of dreams dashed and kindness rewarded in dog-eat-dog Patagonia.
Though this slim but likeable tale is light on surprises, there's a terrific one in store when Bombon finally comes of age.
Grabs the warm humanist baton from Sorin's Minimal Stories and heads straight for an existential finish line.
