Long considered a classic--if a heartily gloomy one--in underground circles, Guerdon Trueblood's '70s screamer was a defining force in the exploitation cinema of that era. A trio of petty criminals comprised of Jessie (Playboy Playmate and B-movie queen Tiffany Bolling, BONNIE'S KIDS), her brother Alan (Brad David), and hulking Army vet Eddy (Vincent Martorano), decides to execute a get-rich-quick scheme by kidnapping the daughter of a local diamond mogul. Innocent 16-year-old Candy (Susan Senett, BIG BAD MAMA) is walking home from Catholic school one day when the three capture her, take her deep into the hills of Southern California, and bury her alive with only an air pipe between her and her demise. But it turns out the girl's father is really her stepfather, and couldn't care less what fate befalls her. A difference of opinion regarding the gang's next move gives rise to an ever-quickening spiral into depravity. Shot through with an atmosphere of maliciousness, this is an uncompromising descent into the dark side of existence akin to Wes Craven's LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT. [More]

Reviews for The Candy Snatchers
Off-beat '70s drive-in fare about a kidnapping gone awry. Exhibits a twisted sense of humor that put it years ahead of its time. Tarantino obviously got a few ideas from this one.
... a forgotten classic of cynical drive-in noir, a perfectly nasty seventies exploitation film with a vicious sense of doom.
