Cannes 2009: Gambit and Silk Spectre Go Bang Bang
by Joe Utichi | May 16, 2009
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

This morning's press reception for The Bang Bang Club in Cannes was rather affected by the conspicuous absence of the film's main star, Ryan Phillippe, who pulled out at the last minute due to illness, making it a slightly quieter affair than many had expected. But what the press who didn't attend missed out on were co-stars Malin Akerman and Taylor Kitsch, who introduced the film with director Steven Silver and sat down with Rotten Tomatoes to tell us more. The project, which has just wrapped principal photography, is the tale of a group of photojournalists in post-Apartheid South Africa who risked their lives to take some of the most iconic warzone imagery in severely troubled times. Ugh...Malin Akerman. How does she get roles? Such an awful actress.

The film sounds interesting, I will keep my eye on it.

As for the people complaining about Malin Akerman... well, I cant say I agree or disagree, I mean I don't think people (not necessarily on this specific comment section) need to call her a talentless whore, or something like that, (that title belongs to people like Lauren Conrad, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, etc.), sure she's not an amazing actress, but she isn't absolutely horrific, there are far worse actors out there. Who knows, maybe she'll up the ante in this... maybe.

Let's cut Malin some slack. This is the role she's been waiting for...she's said so herself. I'm sure she gave it her all. If Mariah Carey can put it out there as she's done for the film "Precious," I'm sure a pro actress like Malin can exceed expectations. The standard for performance for "The Bang Bang Club" was pretty high. I've been following a info feed by one of the crew members and she says this film will knock your socks off.

Gotta agree, how many films has she been in at this point 4 or 5? Most of which are goofball comedies like Harold and Kumar and The Heartbreak Kids. Just think if people had said that about Tom Hanks. Oh he's just a sub-Chevy comedien and that's all he's ever going to be good for. No Gump, No Philadelphia, No Private Ryan, and No Da Vinci...Well, ignore that last one, but you get the point. She's still very young and could develop into a superstar.

Hey, Megan Fox gets roles because she's hot. Malin Akerman isn't that hot.

I think Akerman is really hot with the black hair. . . and that skin tight outfit.

If an actress is there just for T&A, it would help if she actually had some T&A. When she got nekked in Watchmen I was like WTF? They'd been better off trawling LA gyms and picking the first hot aerobics instructor.

Tiny boobed girls need lovin too Pinky. Don't think there's anything wrong with Malin, very pretty girl, great legs too and I think she could have a bright future. pornstars have big boobs, superstars have killer legs. Everybody knows the Oscar committee are leg men.
