Box Office Wrapup: "Cars" Parks Itself at #1
by Gitesh Pandya | June 11, 2006
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

The Disney/Pixar animated film Cars raced past the competition to finish in first place at the North American box office. Though it did not open as strong as some of its predecessors, the toon easily outdistanced everything else in the current marketplace outselling the second place film by a three-to-one margin. Hey killbill, writing this kind of stuff is what this guy does to make a living. His weekly box office wrap ups are informative and encompass just about every market place factor affecting box office results. Don't knock a guy too hard for doing his job.

I felt it wasn't as consistent as the other Pixar movies, especially in the middle of it. The end of it still lived up to Pixar's rep though.

Glad to see that Cars did so well! It deserves every penny, if not more. After weeks of "just okay" summer blockbusters (The Davinci Code, X-men, The Break Up) it's was nice to see a movie that kept me happy from start to finish.
