"Candy" Girl to be Bond's Next Flame?
Just in time for the DVD release of "Casino Royale" comes word, via IGN, of rumors regarding who'll vamp it up opposite Daniel Craig in the inevitable next Bond movie. The report, initially picked up by MI6.co.uk from Australian magazine New Idea, names "A Good Year" and "Candy" actress Abbie Cornish as the next Bond girl.
As the report's source puts it: "Abbie is perfect because she is not familiar to film audiences, but at the same time people have become intrigued by her. She may not have enjoyed being caught up in a scandal at the time but it certainly helped her profile."

Cornish in "Somersault"
That "scandal," for those of you who don't make a habit of concerning yourselves with other peoples' divorces, concerns an alleged on-set affair between Cornish and her "Stop Loss" co-star Ryan Phillippe, who was married to Reese Witherspoon at the time.
Cornish can next be seen in "The Golden Age," with Cate Blanchett and Clive Owen, and "Somersault," co-starring Sam Worthington, who could tell Cornish a thing or two about Bond rumors -- he was, after all, supposedly up for the role of the secret agent before it went to Craig.

Mikeal420 writes: on Mar 13 2007 10:40 AM how bout in keeping with the anti-bond style of "Casino Royale" (which made it the BEST Bond ever, I have no guilt saying that), they pick an actress who is not dainty and waiting for her savior. The Bond girl in this film ought to be a fellow MI6 agent who's just as ruthless as Bond That's probably why even though I disliked "Tomorrow Never Dies", Michelle Yeoh is still my favorite, her stunts were crazier than Bond!! Just don't make it a beautiful nuclear scientist who needs Bond's help to save her secret formula from the bad-guys (Reply to this) |

"The Bond girl in this film ought to be a fellow MI6 agent who's just as ruthless as Bond" But then she could steal the show for 007. IF that were to happen, my vote would be Jessica Biel. Halle berry was the worst bond girl of all time. not to mention that that entire movie was terrible. she should have been killed off in the first 10 minutes. I really don't like halley berry to begin with but she was a terrible bond girl. I think that having jessica biel as a fellow double-O would be like having denise richards playing a nuclear physicist. once you find out her profession, all interest in the film would be lost. But to go along with your suggestion, i suggest Kate Beckingsale, cause she pretty much ruled in underworld.. plus she's hot. All i know is that the movie comes out on dvd today and i will be stopping at the local best buy directly from work. And Eva Green is awesome. (Reply to this) |

GreenBastard writes: on Mar 13 2007 03:38 PM She's perfect. Nothing makes a Bond movie gayer than some martial arts super-chick like Michelle Yeoh. Man that sucked. I like how the new Bonds are gritty and a little more real (as real as it can be). Women beating the shitter out of guys is just corny. (Reply to this) |

Mikeal420 writes: on Mar 13 2007 07:13 PM In reply to this comment (#858006) the fact u would even bring up Halle Berry's role in comparison shows how little u realize the writer's of the Bond series have swayed away from the old style. To base ur opinion on that role u might as well say they should just get rid of the "Bond" character altogether since his character was poorly written for the past 25 years(aside from "Goldeneye") I'm tired of the love interests in Bond films, I made that suggestion to say maybe the point of a female character in Bond should be beyond an easy way for the script writers to inspire Bond to fight Here is an even better suggestion, no female love interest at all. I'm fine with just seeing him hook-up with random married women rather than falling in love (Reply to this) |

THE MANWHORE writes: on Mar 13 2007 09:49 PM Casino Royale = Blah!!! I thought Casino Royale sucked the fun out of Bond!!! Daniel Craig was good, but i was bored after about 30 mins in!!! Oh & the bond girls were ugly 2, whats with that!!! Anyway, i know i'm in the minority, but i prefer the Pierce Brosnan entries to this!!! Hope the next entry is more fun!!! (Reply to this) |

Mike writes: on Mar 14 2007 10:21 AM Abbie was great in SOMERSAULT. I'd be fine with her being a Bond girl and it would give me a reason to see the movie. My pick though would be Emily Blunt, who would be a bloody perfect Bond girl and her and Judi Dench being in it would guarantee I see it in theaters. I have never seen a Bond movie in theaters, but this would make me want to. It could easily be the best Bond movie then, at least for me, because I'm not a fan of the series at all (haven't seen Casino Royale at this point). (Reply to this) |

unbreakable_samurai writes: on Mar 14 2007 11:18 AM I'm a big Bond fan, hopefully they ease up a little on the whole anti Bond this time around. I think that Cornish would be a great choice, so hopefully it's a done deal and she's got it. (Reply to this) |

jeanpaul writes: on Mar 14 2007 04:51 PM Casino Royale tradition. I think they (the producers and filmmakers) should continue with the "Casino Royale tradition" and NOT put Bond with females who have BIG KNOCKERS and kick the living daylights out of gullible bad men--- instead, they shoud keep going in the tradition of "Royale" with more down to earth, realistic, feminine (and not nessicarily feminstic/ballbusters) and still sexy women like EVA GREEN was. Man, I loved her in "Royale"... Well, here goes: I liked her so much in "Royale" that I almost cried in the end when she doesn't survive... They need to pitch Bond with women like that. Not big breasted 'Wonder-women' like Jessica biel and what-not... Bond needs to be seen more with female characters like Eva Green's--- who brought out the humane/more vulnerable/emotional sides of Bond, which we have NOT seen much of (except in "Royale" ofcourse...). It would definately make the Bond character MORE INTERSTING and more APPEALING, if he had such, more warmer and more realistic women around him, in my opinion. (Reply to this) |
