Exclusive: Bullets and Babes on the Crank High Voltage Set
Summary
In this week's super-charged sequel to the 2006 sleeper hit, Crank (60%), the writing-directing team of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (known simply as "Neveldine + Taylor") continue the adrenaline-pumping adventures of hit man Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) -- who, as you may recall, experienced quite a rough 24 hours in the first film. You didn't think a little high-altitude fall from a helicopter could keep Chev down, did you? This Friday's Crank High Voltage picks up right where Crank ended, and Rotten Tomatoes was on set at various locations during production to witness manic action, public indecency, Bai Ling craziness, leather-clad biker shoot-outs and good old-fashioned fun -- all the makings of a true-blue Crank flick. jokerboy1991 writes: on Apr 15 2009 06:45 PM I hope Crank 2 turns out awesome. It seems weird that there not screening it for critics, sure they didn't screen the first film which turned out cool. But it just seems weird that Lionsgate wouldn't screen it consider the first film was relatively well received. Kind of lowers my hopes, but I still think it will be as fun as the first movie but I hope its better. (Reply to this) |

stg writes: on Apr 16 2009 07:28 PM Jokerboy I don't think its that weird as the flick is not meant to be judged by stuck up critics, somehow I don't see Roger Ebert giving his two thumbs up to a molesting of an 87 year old lady :). The last one barely grazed fresh on the tomato meter and I'd bet this one is gonna end up between 40 to 50&. This one is for the popcorn and beer crowd and if the critics wanna see it, they have to wait just like the rest of us folks. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Apr 16 2009 09:45 PM In reply to this comment (#2427677) Wha? Roger Ebert has always had a soft spot for these insane action/exploitation movies. He liked Wanted, loved Shootem Up, and Running Scared. He likes that kind of fun action trash. But still the first movie was well liked by a good amount of people, so it doesn't make sense to not screen it. (Reply to this) |

stg writes: on Apr 17 2009 02:47 AM yeah, you're right about Ebert he does seem to get the point of most movies panned by other critics, "knowing" being the latest example. Its cool you mentioned Running Scared I really dug that movie, its a shame it doesn't get its due. (Reply to this) |

Chris R. writes: on Apr 17 2009 04:33 AM The first one was absolutely awesome, the second (hopefully) will only continue the madness. And who doesn't have a soft spot for action exploitation. It gets your heart pumping, adrenaline going, then you cathartically realise that you could never do that, and don't want to. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Apr 18 2009 09:11 PM In reply to this comment (#2428282) I think a lot of people like Running Scared, its got a big following definitely on the site. It was a really cool movie. Also Crank 2 was awesome. I love all the WTF moments of it, and I would say that it is better then the first movie. Also did anyone here like Death Race? Another Staith movie, kind of bad, but I did find it funny. (Reply to this) |
