RT on DVD: Benjamin Button, Bollywood Kung Fu, and a Special Twilight Set
Summary
Award season armchair jockeys should check out a few notable Oscar and Golden Globe contenders this week, including David Fincher's visionary epic film about a man who ages backwards (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and a romantic story for the older set (Last Chance Harvey). If your idea of an indie pixie dream girl is Michelle Williams, watch the remarkable actress in her latest (the micro-budgeted Wendy and Lucy, from the director of Old Joy). Smaller releases this week include a Bollywood kung fu pic (Chandni Chowk to China) and an urban comedy with a sci-fi twist (Frankenhood), though we've got our eye on Amazon's fan-targeted exclusive Twilight Blu-ray set. (The official Twilight charm bracelet -- sweet!) Read on for more. Back to Article

WallEField writes: on May 04 2009 08:27 PM Can't wait for Curious Case, forget the haters who are only upset that it was nominated over The Dark Knight. Trust me, the movie you should be upset about being nominated is The Reader, and the film that should have taken its place was no TDK, but rather WALL-E. Glad this one got an awesome Criterion Collection, picking it up on Wednesday! (Reply to this) |

ledawg1138 writes: on May 04 2009 09:45 PM Nothing for me this week. And TDK and WALL-E should've got a Best Pic nom. Just saying, WallEField. Curious Case dosen't look like my kinda film. I'll just watch "Forrest Gump" again. (Reply to this) |

red_wine writes: on May 05 2009 06:49 AM Curious Case is a stinking piece of ****, a totally ridiculous movie, the great movie this week is Wendy & Lucy. Its 1 of the most natural films ever made, Michelle Williams is miraculous. (Reply to this) |

eastern2western writes: on May 05 2009 10:45 AM personally, I just hate twilight, first you have a group of the most wimpiest vampires in the history of vampires, one wants to be a vegan, other do not want to hurt people, another thing is eventhe bad guys just look like a bunch models from abercrombian fich catalog. so I truly wish people will stop buying into these kinds of homo vampire movies and get some real **** like the old vampire movies. Warheart1188 writes: on May 05 2009 12:25 PM Great, all the teens are going to be lining up to get this stupid Twilight box set, I bet. It was ridiculous going to Wal-Mart at 11:30 to see a bunch of scene kids waiting in line for that DVD. I almost wanted to wait in line just to make fun of them but I figured several 20-something year old guys carrying cases of beer didn't fit with these kids. So you know what I did? I went to the Redbox which had Twilight available for rent already, rented it, and went to the kids in line and said "I got it already!! I'm gonna watch it before you!!". Some of the kids were all like "What?? It doesn't come until midnight!". Did I watch it? No, but the look on their faces were worth the dollar. (Reply to this) |

ledawg1138 writes: on May 05 2009 03:53 PM In reply to this comment (#2453633) "Benjamin Button" I'm sure is okay, but you'd have to pay me to see "Wendy and Lucy". Looks like the kinda film I'd hate. (Reply to this) |

red_wine writes: on May 05 2009 09:51 PM In reply to this comment (#2454270) Atleast give it a try, its just about 1/3 rd the length of the intellectually deficient Curious Case. And Wendy & Lucy was actually 1 of the most celebrated films of last year, if you just follow the Oscars, you just wouldn't know it.
