No awards season would be complete without the Golden Raspberry Awards (AKA The Razzies), awarded each year to the very worst movies to hit Hollywood. This year's winners will be announced on Oscar weekend; could multiple-nominee The Love Guru take home top honors? See the full list of nominees below.
This year, a few standout films and filmmakers nabbed multiple nominations, making for really good odds come February 21, when the Golden Raspberry winners will be announced. Leading the pack is Disaster Movie (2 percent on the Tomatometer), which managed to earn six nominations; The Hottie & the Nottie (5 percent), up for honors in five categories; and Uwe Boll's In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, which also earned the Teutonic Terror a Worst Career Achievement Razzie.

on Jan 21 2009 11:16 AM Yeah, the Wackness was a good movie, for which Ben Kingsley's performance was almost uniformally praised. That's the only thing that I don't like about the razzies, if an actor has a bad year, the razzies will **** on everything they were in that year. Anyway, in 2008, in my opinion Ben Kingsley was 2 for 2. Love Guru and War Inc. were losses. But Transsiberian and the Wackness were excellent films! He had a better year than Pacino. on Jan 21 2009 11:53 AM Indiana Jones 4 wasn't a bad movie (I enjoyed it, though no where near as much as 1 and 3), but somebody needs to send a message to George Lucas to stop making unnecessary sequels and prequels just to get a quick buck. on Jan 21 2009 11:55 AM Kind of rough on Indy weren't they? I agree that maybe just trying to shock people with the nomination (while it was somewhat disappointing it wasn't one of the five worst). Also, I kind of liked "The Happenning", though I know the concept was pretty far out there. Maybe it was a "its so bad its good" feeling, but I enjoyed the B movie thriller aspect of it (comparable to '50s sci fi). As a director, Shymalan has a great eye for putting scenes together and creating great visuals. He just has to take a break from writing his own stuff for awhile. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 21 2009 12:06 PM While I like the concept of the razzies and many of the nominations make sense, they do go a little overboard when they want to dump on someone in particular. Ben Kingsley for the Wackness? Insane. I also would have to say that Paris Hilton was perfectly acceptable in Repo (she was basically playing herself). Sure, she is a horrible actress and I'm sure deserved the nom for Hottie/Nottie (of course, I didn't see it), but not for Repo. (Reply to this) |

I mean aliens in indy jones are you ****tting me, seriously some one needs to send spielberg and lucus to a mental hospital because they have lost their minds. Next movie ET2 where ET attacks the white house and tries to take over the world they could put shia leboef and will smith in it as jet pilots trying to save the world from evil ET and his evil army of children on flying bicycles. on Jan 21 2009 12:18 PM The Razzies are a complete joke for the most part. I stopped paying attention to them long ago. They practically compile a list panned films with A actors just to turn heads and draw attention. With the exception of the Uwe Boll, Disaster Movie/MTS' and Happening nominations, practically most of the other films are out of place. The fact that the Razzies believe that films (or the acting found in) such as KotCS, Speed Racer, Righteous Kill and Max Payne are more deserving of a nomination than films like; Saw V, Babylon A.D., The Spirit, 10,000 B.C., Punisher: War Zone etc., is proof that the nominations are a farce.
