Ice Cube, Fred Durst Making a Movie Together
It's bound to be better than Are We Done Yet?
by Jeff Giles | August 23, 2007
Discuss Article
It's a story that reads like a sign of the Apocalypse, or perhaps a horrible, long-lost B-side from the Judgment Night soundtrack, but the sad reality is that it's just another day in Hollywood: Variety is reporting that Ice Cube and Fred Durst are collaborating on a film.

The project, titled Comeback and described in the article as "an inspirational sports drama," will be based on the true story of Jasmine Plummer, the 11-year-old quarterback who became the first female player in the history of Pop Warner football. (And a good one, too -- she led her team to the Pop Warner tournament in 2003.) Mr. Cube will produce and star as Jasmine's uncle, who was a star on his high school football squad, and helps her learn the game. The script was written by Nick Santora and Doug Atchison.

And how does Fred Durst fit into all this? He's going to direct, of course. This will be the first major film project for Durst, who made the jump from off-key screaming to movies a couple of years ago, and premiered his directorial debut, The Education of Charlie Banks, at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. Production on Comeback is slated to begin November 26.

Good lord, what have we done to deserve this? Ice Cube's a decent actor if he's in the right role(see Three Kings),but Fred Durst? Come on,what big hollywood movie producer thought letting him director has a good idea?

Had to look up Fred's other movie and this is an actual user comment about The Education of Charlie Banks (rated 8.6 out of 10)

"Those who have not seen Fred Durst in action need to see this excellent movie under his direction. The movie is so moving and Fred has perfected every scene. The actors and crew acquired a great respect for Fred's hard work on this film.

The talent performed by the wonderful actors in this movie will make each a household name. I was blown away at their ability to captivate the audience and hold everyone's attention to the end of the movie.

People laughed, cried, and gasped during the premier and I didn't see anyone go for refreshments during the film. That should tell everyone how exciting it was! Thank you for allowing me to express my views on this premier. If you haven't seen it, write into your movie theaters and demand it be shown. It is worth it!"

Fred Durst and Ice Cube Together? Damn, two of the best! This movie should be awesome. Maybe they'll release some tracks together for the soundtrack! Can't Wait!

Whatever you may think of Fred Dursts' musical ability (I'm personally not a fan), he's certainly gotten a lot of critical respect for directing "The Education of Charlie Banks."

Also, he did direct the majority of his bands videos. I don't remember many of them being amazing, but the guy has experience.

I'd start complaining about how much I hate Fred Durst- and he is a complete moron, to be sure, but when you think about it he can't be any worse than Michael Bay.

I must say I'm shocked at all the positive responses to this post, these people must be friends of Durst.

It makes sense to put the two least talented people in America in a movie together.

The best part of this all is they're holding out to surprise us all with the announcement that it also stars Rob Schneider as an undercover F.B.I. agent that has a "thing" for donuts!!
