Synopsis: Nacho is a young man declared missing four years ago. Neither his family nor his best friends could provide any clue as to his whereabouts or to the circumstances of his disappearance, but... Nacho is a young man declared missing four years ago. Neither his family nor his best friends could provide any clue as to his whereabouts or to the circumstances of his disappearance, but everything pointed to him being dead.

Nacho was a young man of enormous talent who was beginning to make himself heard in the circles in the forefront of art. He had his own painting style, deeply influenced by the picture of Hieronymous Bosch and focused on a single theme: Death.

At the beginning, the appearance of a significant clue led the police to re-open the case. The witnesses were called on to testify again. After having been to the police the group of friends gathered together and arrived at a shattering conclusion; “If the police discover the body, we’re lost. We have to dig it up”

Iván, Clara, Patricia, Ramon, Candela and Carlos, the six characters of our story, had lied to the police. In one form or other, they were all involved in Nacho’s death, which happened one terrible night, which no-one would ever speak about and which no-one had ever been able to forget.

Four years after the events they would have to face the past, a past which had returned to haunt them and which would start to exact its own vengeance, as one after the other begin to die in strange circumstances…

Iván and Clara, the starring pair, will have to find sense in what is happening in order to survive. In the middle of the chaos which has arrived in their life they find an unexpected help: Nacho himself. -- © 2001 Venevision International [More]

Unhappily it lacks a sense of style distinctive enough to overcome its derivative quality.

While the Spanish film The Art of Dying isn't perfect, it is a compelling bit of psycho-horror.

After The Others, The Art of Dying feels like the designer bags you buy at the flea market.
