Reviews for Espelho Mágico
Based on a novel by Augustina Bessa- Luís, a frequent de Oliveira collaborator, the film is perversely textual, an endlessly talking picture seemingly addressed to no one but itself.
Oliveira's touch is sure and the result is an atmospheric piece of work that lingers in the mind.
If you have never loved de Oliveira, this film will be a hard sell, even though it is more lyrical than most of his previous work.
