Sony to Spin SIX Spidey Flicks?
by Scott Weinberg | May 04, 2005
Discuss Article
Sci-Fi Wire had a chat with the deservedly admired filmmaker Sam Raimi (director of the "Evil Dead" and "Spider-Man" series), and he divulged an interesting little tidbit regarding the future of Sony's web-slinging franchise: "I've heard Amy Pascal (chairman of Sony's motion picture group) say she wants to make six Spider-Man pictures ... and if she says there'll be six, there'll be six."

And regarding the director's potential involvement? "If they were to ask me, and if I felt as passionate as I feel now about the character and had this great hunger and desire to tell the story, which I really do now, you couldn't keep me away from it." Mr. Raimi also gave up some more vague hints about "Spider-Man 3" - so check out the article over at SciFi.com.

There's so many great stories to re-hash, so why not. As long as we don't get a revolving door of actors playing Spidey it should work. And keep the shlock directors at *ahem* bay.

I hope they get better, I thought the first 2 were OK, a bit long a drawn out though for my liking. 6 movies would be easy considering how long the comics been going for, and how many stories they could provide for a movie.

i think roger ebert was smoking crack when he said Spiderman 2 was the best comic book movie ever..

i would recomend that he watch the original and then reevalute his statement.....(original being Superman2)...

The two Spider-man films are over-rated. They don't seem to have that Epic quality that the first Superman film had. Spider-man BITES!!

Yea from what I heard it was Vemon, and rumors of The Black Cat. I say YEA! to six only if they keep everyone, if they start replacing actors then don't bother. If Toby isn't Spiderman for all six, they will suck.

I'll take over as Spiderman when Tobey leaves...

It'll be part 5 when Joel Schumacher directs and bases it on the 60's cartoon, except spiderman will wear leather and a spiked codpiece for no reason at all. EW.

Okay. Three I can handle cause trilogies just work so well. Four, I can deal with just fine. Five? Six? Things are going to start to wear thin. The idea won't seem as fresh anymore and the audience will lose interest. Sure, there are TONS of ideas in comics that could be put to film but let's face it, it's going to get old, people will lose interest and we'll probably get a revolving cast instead of keeping the same actors.

Please let it just stop at four!

Spiderman IV: The quest for peace. I can see it now...

Honestly though, it depends on the creative team. If they can continue to lure in great talents and not hollywood butt monkeys to write and direct, then they can stay afloat.
