Disney Aims to Sequelize Their Pixar Properties
CNN/Money brings news of Disney's post-Pixar plans should the two studios end up parting ways. That Robert Iger was recently announced as successor to Disney CEO Michael Eisner could certainly help to smooth things out between Pixar and the Mouse House -- but that's not preventing Disney from making alternate plans: "The company, which owns the rights to the Pixar library, has announced plans for a "Toy Story 3" and plans to roll out sequels to "Finding Nemo," "Monsters Inc.," "The Incredibles" as well as "Cars." Let's hope Mr. Iger and Pixar CEO Steve Jobs can reach an arrangement soon; if these sequels do become a reality, it's best to have the Pixar crew running the show.

loudharley writes: on Mar 15 2005 10:34 PM Well, seeing as how these movies are made for kids why not make sequals,im sure kids will watch them and i dont think pixar will be a factor for a child wanting to see one of these films.I get so sick of people complaining about disney only being in this for money,of course there in it for money otherwise they wouldnt make movies at all.Disneys a buisness and there gonna try to get people in the seats at the theatres but if you dont like what you see just dont waist your money on it,we have a choice.Personally i dont go watch these movies fo myself anyways ,i take my son if hes interested and sometimes i end up enjoying a few of these films, but if i dont, no big deal because i wasnt there for me in the first place. kwelladakid writes: on Mar 16 2005 09:55 AM I'm over my initial grief regarding the idea of a third Toy Story, and I sort of look forward to it now. However, do we really need sequels to every freakin' Pixar movie? The only one that would make sense having a sequel is the Incredibles, and Brad Bird had better be involved or it'll be horrid. From the looks of the upcoming Chicken Little from Disney, they're really better off recycling Pixar's properties, I guess. (Reply to this) |

Xynotyro writes: on Mar 16 2005 03:17 PM In reply to this comment (#820602) ... Of course Disney wants money, your are correct, they are a company. Pixar, also being a company, probably wants money as well, but they tend to release movies of a much higher quality then what Disney has released lately. Pixar's movies are not aimed just at kids, but at a wide range of ages (i.e. The Incredibles), so yes, it does matter when Disney, the latest corporation to jump on the in-it-for-the-money bandwagon, wants to create a sequel to a movie it didn't make. Especially since Disney is notoriously good at making atrocious sequels. (Reply to this) |

jeanfc writes: on Mar 18 2005 10:39 AM It may look easy and all, but PIXAR owns the all of the artwork and the computer programs and data that was used to create previous films. Without PIXAR's cooperation, which they would not get, Disney will have to re-create everthing from zero. Will that many people want to see Toy Story III if everything looks radically different from the previous movies? Also, since no matter what happens Disney will have to give 50% to PIXAR (even if they don't renew their agreement), they (Disney) would be better to develop original properties which they will own 100% (Reply to this) |

Quadran writes: on Mar 21 2005 11:43 AM The sad truth is that these movies are going to sell. I'm sure that Disney will also try to trick people with their advertising by squeezing "Pixar" in there somewhere. I can just see it now: "from the characters introduced by PIXAR..." (Reply to this) |

loudharley writes: on Mar 25 2005 11:48 PM In reply to this comment (#820609) Visually theres no doubt that pixar is very good at what pixar does but to me no matter how good these films look there still kids movies.I dont ever go to the movies to watch cartoons for myself ,seeing as how im 26 years old and have grown up at this point i have no desire to see finding nemo or whatever little cartoon animal they put out next. When im at the theatre watching one of these films its because my little boy wants to see them, although i do enjoy a few of these films i never want to go back and watch em.So no i dont think disneys the devil and i dont hate pixar, its just all kids stuff to me.
