Much to her relief, Robert leaves on business, only to plunge to his death in a plane crash. Even more shocking for Lisa, however, is learning her husband is, in fact, still alive and planning to collect insurance money by playing dead. The film leads the viewer down a road of deception and suspense, a journey further complicated by Lisa's friends, two journalists (Gig Young, Jean-Pierre Aumont), whom she confides in about her dastardly situation.
