fortuosity writes: on Nov 30 2008 05:07 PM Happy to see Bolt finally get some of the recognition it deserves. I was saddened when Quantum beat it last week. I still think that it should have done better but que sara sara. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Nov 30 2008 05:26 PM I don't picture Australia have strong legs, I just think there is too much competition and with mixed reviews I don't picture the movie making its budget back at all in its theatrical release but I am sure will do well on DVD, I did like Australia though and I could definitely tell there was post-production issues and the movie could have been great if it was edited better and if they took out that kids narration. Also MILK was great and I hope people go to see it. Also, does anyone think PUNISHER will do any good? I know I will see it FRIDAY even though I am prepping my self for it to suck, but I am trying to give it the benefit of the doubt since Ray Stevenson was awesome in Rome, and Dominic West was great in The Wire and was a good bad guy in 300 and the director of Green Street Hooligans did it, so I am just hoping it is just being advertised badly. Does anyone know if it is being screened for critics? I expect it to make 12-15 mil next weekend. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Nov 30 2008 05:27 PM Also I couldn't believe Four Christmases budget, it was 80 million! It looked kind of crappy, and will probably be a rental for me like Fred Claus which wasn't any good. (Reply to this) |

martinscorsese25 writes: on Nov 30 2008 05:39 PM In reply to this comment (#2161456) maybe its because of the star power of the film... Reese Witherspoon isnt just your ordinary star... i think she ask 20M per film, and Vince Vaughn is not just your ordinary comedian, the guy ask alot of money too per film... (Reply to this) |

v-alexander-the-great writes: on Nov 30 2008 05:42 PM After hearing about the Walmart stampede thing, I am no longer surprised that trash like Four Christmases can be #1 at the box office. We really are a gross culture... :( (Reply to this) |

Some guy you dont know writes: on Nov 30 2008 05:46 PM Why do idiots just sit there and complain about how movie you don't like are making money? Who cares. It's not going to change anything. Are you really so pathetic that that really helps you feel better like it's the end of the freakin' world? (Reply to this) |

wordweaver12 writes: on Nov 30 2008 05:52 PM Wow! Australia is gearing up to be a massive FLOP! I mean MASSIVE. Kidman should stick to independent dramas and smaller vehicles; that's where her true talent shines. No comment on Four Christmasses. Twilgiht is slipping fast...praise the Lord. Twilight, you are no Harry Potter and Mr. Rober MAD-dison, you are no Johnny Depp so speak articulately like a proper British man, stop acting like you're wasted all the time and comb you F***** hair. (Reply to this) |

thereign writes: on Nov 30 2008 05:57 PM Why do people come on this board and engage in name-calling of others who didn't like a certain film and the cash it's making, when that's part of what comment forums are for--to express opinions? Especially when they've probably complained about films they didn't like making money in the past(or are you a fan of Uwe Boll's body of work, after all), just like the rest of us? Are you really so pathetic that that really helps you feel better about yourself? Would the REAL Bruce Campbell do that? I don't think so... (Reply to this) |
|
wordweaver12 writes: on Nov 30 2008 05:58 PM @ Bruce Campbell um, did you miss the memo? the purpose of this site is for people to discuss, analyse and dissect everything to do with movies. If someone is sharing his/her thoughts on movies they didn't like and why they think it doesn't deserve to earn big bucks at the box office, they are simply engaging in a discussion about the movie. And in case you missed the memo, that is what this site is about. So stop trying to take people on a guilt trip with the whole (Reply to this) |

wordweaver12 writes: on Nov 30 2008 06:32 PM In reply to this comment (#2161546) Black friday on amazon? smart.Black friday madness is really getting out of hand, people being smashed to death at Wal-Mart and sh*t. I mean, who wakes up before 4am and gets squashed in front of Wal-mart, just to buy tacky Made In china goods? good grief. And as if the shopping madness was not enough, people decided to take their madness to the theaters by watching Four Christmasses, what the h E ll? lol (Reply to this) |

Kim H. writes: on Nov 30 2008 06:51 PM In reply to this comment (#2161535) First of all, Twilight did not have such a huge decline as indicated. It had a massive week doing another $25 million that wasn't even counted in the weekend totals. So actually, it did over $50 million this week. Unfortunately, when the top 10 list is given , it only ranks Fri, Sat, Sun figures. If they used the actual figures for the week, it would have easily been #1 again. Even if going from Wed so to include Four Christmases (which was horrible). $120 million in a 9 day span is fantastic by any account, especially for a no budget small film that was made almost a year before anyone realized the massive potential it had. Roxtar writes: on Nov 30 2008 07:19 PM In reply to this comment (#2161592) How can you say Twilight didn't have such a huge decline when it did? Last weekened it made 70 and this week it made 26 which, roughly, is 62%. That is a huge decline. A decline similar to it's 40% opening Fri-Sat decline and 40% Sat-Sun decline on it's opening weekend as well. So if you were wondering, yes, you are dumb. Sure it's making bank, but the numbers don't lie. It's falling hard. (Reply to this) |

Mire S. writes: on Nov 30 2008 07:47 PM In reply to this comment (#2161632) About twilight..is the same decline that the last James Bond suffer from one week to the other.. JM fall 60.4%, first week won $67,528,882, the movie have a 200 millions h S h T So is falling??..yes!..but in a normal way..so please make a little research before calling dumb to somebody, when the only stupid person with no respect in here..is you. CalvinandHobbes23 writes: on Nov 30 2008 08:45 PM yes quantum fell pretty steeply in it's second week, and yes twilight fell around the same amount, but bond seems to have leveled off a bit so we'll just have to see if twilight does the same. (Reply to this) |

ledawg1138 writes: on Nov 30 2008 09:24 PM Aaah, I'm back from nice weekend and am sad to hear that Black Friday goes on and on. Does anyone besides me feel bad for the employees of Wal-Mart or JC Penny, etc., who MUST get up that early? Oh well, this a movie website soooo... "Four Christmases" number 1 huh. Pretty lame. Like I said before, I plan on seeing "Quantum of Solace" (haven't seen it yet) and "The Spirit" this holiday season, but I don't think I'll see anything else in theaters. Although I'm giving serious thought on seeing "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", and when I'm old enough "Frost/Nixon", which looks amazing! A rental, seeing as how it's a limited realease, (I think). The new "At the Movies" critics called Ron Howards best. Good to see he can still make films after "The Da Vinci Code". (Reply to this) |

Mire S. writes: on Nov 30 2008 09:26 PM In reply to this comment (#2161818) maybe tw do the same..maybe not.-- and even if TW keep falling, Summit already make 3 times the budget just in USA... I give that answer, because I found Roxtar answer very rude... (Reply to this) |

ledawg1138 writes: on Nov 30 2008 09:27 PM For anyone who dosen't know, "Quantum of Solace" is already in the top 10 highest grossing films of the year. (Worldwide.) So it has a good chance of making it in the top 3, that's my prediction at least. (Reply to this) |

wordweaver12 writes: on Nov 30 2008 09:44 PM @ ledawg I feel the same about black friday. People need to realize that their credit cards don't have bail out plans. Right now, the only movie I'm excited about is Cadillac records. I can hardly wait. TCCBB doesn't look like my kind of movie so I'll pass. (Reply to this) |
