The first two seasons of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS earned praise usually reserved for other mediums; viewers and critics expecting a primetime soap about sports were instead treated to a rich, detailed examination of modern life in a small town. The NBC drama follows Coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler), his wife, Tami (Connie Britton), and his teenage daughter as they take up residence in Dillon, Texas, a burg with sun-dried strip malls, clapboard churches, and a fanatic loyalty to the high-school football team. All around the Taylors, well-meaning students face prosaic but critical challenges: new quarterback Matt Saracen (Zach Gilford) balances the needs of his team and his aging grandmother; former player Jason Street (Scott Porter) copes with life after an on-field injury; and the head cheerleader, Lila Garrity (Minka Kelly), suffers an identity crisis when her doting parents divorce. This collection includes every episode from the series’ first and second years. [More]
