This second sequel (following MORE TALES OF THE CITY) to the original finds the 1970s over and the 1980s just beginning. Set in 1981, FURTHER TALES once again follows the residents of landlady Anna Madrigal's building, who have all matured since the last installment of the series. Mary Ann (Linney) has become a career woman focused on becoming a TV journalist and has even persuaded former ladies' man Brian to settle down with her. A few new faces from beyond Barbary Lane change the look of the series, but Mr. Maupin's combination of big city life and small town relationships help keep FURTHER TALES just as charming and engrossing as the original.
