While she never attained the heights Hearst had in mind, she was an affable, appealing comedienne (and often had great material provided by Hearst's money and friends such as Frances Marion). This is prime Davies (and Bing's first MGM outing). Davies is an unassuming French teacher in love with radio singer Crosby. When he follows his star to Hollywood, so does she, where she encounters a rival for his affections on the set of his big breakthrough film.
