Because it looks wack. Look at Prime's paintjob. And that gorilla looking jet, that's supposed to be Starscream!

No, it doesn't look wack. You are just suffering from "Michael Bay" envy, lol.

Seriously though, I think the public at large is excited about a live -action "Transformers" movie, and I am willing to bet it will be the big box office winner of the summer. Even those that say they won't see it will surely be the first in line.

I could be way off base here, but I think the movie is aimed at those of us that grew up watching the cartoon and played with the toys, but don't necessarily obsess about the cartoon on a daily basis as adults on Aint it Cool News, etc. You know, stable people that did move out of their parents house, have jobs and actually love going to the movies to have a good time.

Some of the trailers for TF have been interesting, and then some have kind of given me the "Johnny Five" vibe.

That fake Thanksgiving trailer was sick. Eli Roth needs therapy. He's obviously got some "issues".

You've got a handful of risible wit, chosenone. But what great amount of hubris it must take for one to suggest that an individual need be broke, unstable, and an overdue resident in their parents' house to be skeptical about Transformers.

Ummmm, Godzilla made 200 mil at the box office. At a time when ticket prices were still around 6-7 dollars. That would equate to almost 300 mil now.

Alright Children....
Forget “Transformers” for the moment - although I think it looks good and love Bay as a director. Yes, his movies are junkfood, but they are top notch in the action department and the guy can direct an action scene that will blow you through the back wall of the theatre. I don't care how stupid “Bad Boys II” was, those car chases were some of the best ever.

The real discussion here should be about that kick-ass fake "Gindhouse" trailer for "Thanksgiving." And I say that as someone who hates Eli Roth's films ("Pancakes!" Go fuck yourself for that shit, Eli!), but it seems the mere freedom and ferocity of ideas and potential surrounding "Grindhouse" has encouraged all involved to go balls out and has brought out the best in even the most pedestrian of directors. Roth should consider just making 3 minute movies from now on. The best stuff of any value in his films is hilariously on display in this tongue-in-cheek fake trailer.

The mini-montage of the other trailers makes them look just as over-the-top cool. And was that Nic Cage behind that beard in the Rob Zombie Nazi/Werewolf trailer?

Far more cool and discussion worthy (not to mention just fuckin' crazy – cheerleader + crotch + knife = Ohhhhhh!) than the “Transformers” spots that you can simply catch on TV (and still aren't really showing the robots full-on). You would actually have to pony up to see "Grindhouse" to catch the "Thanksgiving" trailer.

yes, but it was ment to be a trilogy that could make hundreds of mln per movie, not counting th erentals, sales and merchandise.

now it only made good money but nothing more. (ps the budget was 130.000.000 us $ and it made worldwide 379.00.000 us $. the studio gets around 50% so that would be 189.000.000 - 130.000.000 = 59.000.000 profit. take in the rentals of 70.000.000 and the sales of probably the same amout. the movie made a profit somewhere in the regions of 200.000.000 which is very good for any movie but considering the possibility of prospected profits that are multiple that number it is somewhat dissapointing).

so in all fairness it was not a bomb financial but to the studio is was a huge dissapointment missing almost every target they set. not to mention critical acclaim.

transformers will make a bundle of money but will it be what spielberg expected??? (and will there be more TF's)

ps.: it hated starscream's look. it looked more like icecream.

i've said it before QT is nothing more than style over matter but Hell! who needs matter when you have this much style. it is sickening how cool this movie looks. hollywood should encourage filmmakers to do what ever they want to do instead of making bogus remakes that were written by marketing boys and girls that only understand marketingnumbers.

Hell , we've had just about enough of the second golden age of hollywood now lets return to the new seventies!!!

Well, as someone who didn't watch Transformers as a kid, I will say that I think the trailer looks like a pretty cool, no holds barred action movie that will be a lot of fun. Exactly what I expect (and usually get) from a Michael Bay film.

Also, people seem to be forgetting "the Rock" which was one of my favorite movies. So Michael Bay is good, minus that piece shit known as Pearl Harbor. Kate Beckinsale was the only good thing about that.

Tired Of All The Whining About Transformers!!
First off, I CAN NOT WAIT for this movie. I have wanted this movie to be made since I first saw the original cartoon. Now onto ALL the whining everyone seems to be doing WITHOUT thinking about what they are actually saying. I remember what all the original Gen 1 transformers look like, and as much as I would like to see them on the big screen - IT JUST WON'T WORK. This is a LIVE ACTION movie that takes place in TODAY'S timeline, not nearly 30 years ago. So of course they have to update the appearance of ALL the transformers appearing, if they weren't updated - it would look like a bunch of cartoon toys running around. They are, after all, robots "IN" disguise. They have to be able to "blend in" with todays technology. So of course Starscream looks like an F-22 Raptor, in a movie that takes place today - he would look rediculous AND stand out if he was a grey, red, and blue F-15. And yes, the Starscream example works for ALL the transformers, they must look appropriate for the times. Now, for all of you they are up in arms about Micheal Bay being the director (oh yes, did i mention he was chosen by Spielberg himself and not by the studio) and that he will ruin the movie... GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!! This is an ACTION movie, not a DRAMA or a SUSPENSE/THRILLER. If it is going to work, it needs a director with a proven track record. Personally, I like all of Bay's work, even if you don't like his movies - you can't deny he knows how to shoot AWSOME action scenes. PLUS - HE is DIRECTING, he had NOTHING to do with WRITING the script - it was in fact written by TRANSFORMERS fans that know what they are talking about. And lastly, if it is going to be the BIGGEST BOMB of the summer, why are no other big budget movies (except for Die Hard 4) opening against it? Harry Potter was moved to the weekend after, Spider Man 3 was moved up almost 3 months ahead of it so that Sony would not lose out on ticket sales to TRANSFORMERS. There is no doubt in my mind that this movie WILL WORK!!

Spider-Man movies always come out in May. I think that was always the plan for the third.
I don't know if the other movies were moved or if they were just set to open at different dates.
Having said that, I agree that it's probably on purpose that a lot of these movies don't open at the same time; they always do that with tentpole flicks like this.

I doubt it will bomb. On the other hand, I doubt it will set records. I bet it will be your standard, solid summer hit.
