Reviews for Hadewijch
An austere and powerful French film about the dangers of religious zealotry and the mysteries of divine grace.
For a film about the brimming over of one girl's emotional fervour, it does surprisingly little to elicit a 'gut response' from the audience.
Ultimately seems just as calculated and mechanical a pose as Dumont's previous efforts.
In the tradition of Carl Dreyer, Robert Bresson and Ingmar Bergman, Hadewijch is about the dilemma of modern spirituality.
