Top CriticDemi Moore is used to the odd supernatural love story (Ghost, 1990) and she works hard at Rachel, but the screenplay just isn't up to the genre. It's not super, it's not that natural and it's not very thrilling ... the end result is not even half right.

Top CriticMore televisual than cinematic, Half Light is too chocolate boxy and clean to be completely convincing, but it's a diverting enough story.

if you strip away all the references to other films, and all the play on genres, what remains is a film without its own soul, as insubstantial, and as difficult to credit, as a spectre half-glimpsed through the Scottish mist.
