The number one syndicated show on television for almost its entire six season run, HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS was created by Christian Williams (a producer for HILL STREET BLUES and writer on NORTHERN EXPOSURE) and produced by Sam Raimi (director of the EVIL DEAD and SPIDER-MAN series). Raimi's influence can be felt on the content of the show, as HERCULES was marked by creative, tongue-in-cheek writing revolving around the show's mythical inspiration, clever low-budget special effects work, and a playful sense of anachronism, all making it a likable action show. HERCULES invents new adventures for the titular hero of Greek myth (played by Kevin Sorbo), who is always accompanied by his friend, the roguish Iolaus (Michael Hurst). SEASON FIVE features 22 episodes of the program, with guest stars such as Bruce Campbell, Karl Urban (LORD OF THE RINGS), and Ryan Gosling. [More]
