The theatrical trailer for The Golden Compass is online, and Yahoo! Movies has it!

We've already seen behind-the-scenes footage, an extended preview, and a teaser -- but with the film's December 7 debut approaching, there's no substitute for a good old-fashioned official trailer. For a three-minute look at what director Chris Weitz has up his sleeve for audiences, click on the link below!

It just looks too sterile.

It looks like they've abandoned the term 'alethiometer' entirely.

As renodc said, it seems as though the source material has been neutered a bit.

Still, out of the three books, this one was obviously the best. As long as they emphasize the relationship between Pan and Lira (?), the movie's got legs.

Also, I wonder if they'll stick to the 'fighting against the evil of God' theme. It's been a bit, so I'm fuzzy on the details...

I hate watching trailers online anymore. There's something obnoxious about going to the theater with friends and having seen every trailer, and them having seen none, and having to explain to them what your problem is, why you know random facts about every movie coming up.

Yet here I am, watching.

as much as i want this movie to succeed, im thinking that it will suffer the same fate as stardust. a little too hyped based on the strength of the source material, a decent movie that isnt as good as it could have been, but a ultimately a box office dud...

I know the feeling, WITHERWINGS! The movie seems more an afterthought once all the hype and spoilers have passed! As for this film, I know very little other than what the trailer reveals (which seems to be alot)!

cant this movie find its own music, all i could think of was lady in the water and how much better the ending song sounded with the spider-man 3 trailer

I'm curious to see how they'll handle the ice bear fight. I will probably have an idea pending on it's rating, PG or PG-13, hoping for the latter. If they stay close to the source material might stagger into R-rated territory, pretty gory...

WARNING: SEMI-SPOILER

Yeah, the end of the polar bear fight caught me a bit surprised (and I LOVED IT).

I'm realtively sure that Iorek will not be dining on screen as he does in the novel.

revolt against God...hmmm how original...and dumb seeing as how God is Love..but then again revolt against God is man and the Devils favorite thing and coming from hollywood it makes sense revolt against the Lord is it's Motif, and dont tell me i dont "know what Im talking about " becuase i work there and have been on sets were they burn insence to the devil on a regular basis ( i wont mention shows by name ). This looks like a play off of Narnia (C.S. Lewis) who by the way was a christian man it is sad to see the the devil and his own attempt to manipulate story telling to turn people away from the Lord if that is what this story is about

"God is Love"

Yep, thats right and for 2 centuries long it's all about love in religion....wake the **** up.

If the abondon the religion thing in the movies i am going to be so dissapointed, that was the whole core of the books!
But it's hollywood so we are going to be dissapointed.

I think you are right. And that is what some of these people don't get. The books abandon "religion" but not spirituality. If nothing else, they show how connected we all are.
